Formed in 2006, NORMAL LOVE is a Philadelphia-based quintet which comprises amplified violin,  electric guitar, electric bass, drums, and a newly added vocalist. The band’s music generally has a loud and brutal aesthetic with compositional influences ranging from African minimalism to serialism to death metal, but rarely within the same piece.

Normal Love’s debut album was released by High Two in November 2007. The Peel EP was released in 2009. The band is currently working on its second album.

Members have performed and/or recorded with various artists including: RUINS, Man Man, Dr. Dog, Pauline Oliveros, Kayo Dot, Dynamite Club, SATANIZED, Make A Rising, Thoughtstreams, illuminea, Mat Maneri, Jamie Saft, Andrew D’Angelo, Mike Pride, Gene Coleman, Alvin Curran, Jack Wright, Forbes Graham, Katt Hernandez, and Nate Wooley.

NORMAL LOVE has shared the stage with artists such as: Tim Berne’s Bloodcount, Make A Rising, Dysrhythmia, Daughters, Zs, Chinese Stars, Ocrilim (Mick Barr), Ex Models, Cheer-Accident, Aa (BIG A little a), James Plotkin, Weasel Walter, Time of Orchids, Stinking Lizavetta, Genghis Tron.

NORMAL LOVE has been invited to perform in Guitar Festival @ The Stone (February 2007), Dark Forces Swing Blind Punches Festival (December 2006), the 1st annual Philadelphia POPPED! Festival (April 2007), and the Clark Park Festival (September 2007).
